The Direction of American Studies carries out research in the following areas: American politics, economy, society, culture, gender studies, and literature. No longer can we remain encapsulated in a world of our “own kind”. Interacting with overseas scientists, gaining scientific knowledge and the ability to interact with people of other cultures through scientific research conferences and scientific journals is vital for our success in the modern world. American Studies program facilitates this process by inviting American Fulbright Scholars every year via the U.S. Embassy in Georgia to deliver lectures on different issues and exchange ideas with Georgian Scholars. The academic staff participates in various conferences concerning the above issues, their papers are published in conference proceedings and journals. They regularly participate in the Conference on American Studies organized by the faculty and the Silk Road International Conference, publish their research in the Journal of Humanities.
