3rd International Conference on American Studies

On October 23, 2009, Annual International Research Conference on American Studies was held in the International Black Sea University (IBSU), organized by the American Studies Direction of the Faculty of Humanities. The participants of the conference were: professors, doctorates and B.A. program students of the American Studies Department of the Faculty of Humanities; professors and M.A. program students of the I. Javakhishvili State University; professors of the Shota Rustaveli Batumi State University; professors of the Tsereteli Kutaisi State University. Head of the Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy in Georgia Cynthia Whittlesey and Cultural Attaché of the United States Embassy in Georgia Saul Hernandez delivered Speeches at the opening of the conference. Fulbright Professor, Richard Horwitz, specially invited by the U.S. Embassy and U.S. professor Edward Raupp introduced papers at the plenary Session of the Conferece, after which the participants read papers in the following workshops: Education and Social Issues; U.S. - Georgia; History, Art and Economic; Literature and Women’s Studies Issues.

 
 

4th International Conference on American Studies

On December 15, 2011, Annual International Research Conference on American Studies was held in the International Black Sea University (IBSU), organized by the American Studies Direction of the Faculty of Humanities (Head of the Direction Prof. Dr. Tamar Shioshvili). The participants of the conference were: professors, doctorates, B.A. and M.A. program (U.S. Foreign Affairs) students of the American Studies Department of the Faculty of Humanities; professors of the I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and professors of the Akaki Tsereteli Kutaisi State University.

Public Affairs Officer of the United States Embassy in Georgia Michael Turner, Rector of International Black Sea University Şevket Ercan Tunç, Associate Professor of Political Science at Ramapo College in the United States of America Jeremy M. Teigen, and Associate Professor Mia Gray King delivered speeches at the opening of the conference.

The participants read papers in the following workshops:

1. Education and Social Issues;

2. Literature and Women’s Issues;

3. History, Art and Economics.

5th International Conference on American Studies

On November 15, 2012, Annual International Research Conference on American Studies was held in the International Black Sea University (IBSU), organized by the American Studies Direction of the Faculty of. The participants of the conference were: Georgian and American professors, doctorates, B.A. and M.A. program (U.S. Foreign Affairs) students of the American Studies Department of the Faculty of Humanities; professors of the I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University; professors of the Akaki Tsereteli Kutaisi State University. The Ambassador of the United States of America in Georgia Richard Norland, Prof. Dr. Vice-Rector of International Black Sea University Giuli Alasania, Ph.D. Vice President for Development at Caucasus University Edward Raupp, Professor of Economics David Aptsiauri, and Counselor of the Political Department at Georgian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, invited lecturer of the AMS Department Kakhi Kenkadze delivered speeches at the opening of the conference.

The participants read papers in the following workshops:

2. Literature and Women’s Issues;

3. History, Art and Economics.

6th International Conference on American Studies

On November 26, 2013, Annual International Research Conference on American Studies was held in the International Black Sea University (IBSU), organized by the American Studies Direction of the Faculty of Education and. The participants of the conference were: Georgian and American professors, doctorates, B.A., M.A. program (U.S. Foreign Affairs) and Ph.D. students of the American Studies Department of the Faculty of Education and Humanities; professors of the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University; professors of the Akaki Tsereteli Kutaisi State University. Cultural Attaché of the United States Embassy in Georgia James Dewey, Rector of International Black Sea University Şevket Ercan Tunç, and Professor of Economics David Aptsiauri delivered speeches at the opening of the conference.

The participants read papers in the following workshops:

2. Literature and Women’s Issues;

7th International Conference on American Studies

The U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Richard Norland & the Cultural Attaché James Dewey of the U.S. Embassy visited the 7th annual International American Studies Research Conference of the Faculty of Education & Humanities, on November 5, 2014 at the International Black Sea University. The Ambassador addressed the participants of the conference & students with a thoroughly informative speech. Welcome speeches were made by the Rector, Prof. Ilyas Chiloglu, the Dean of the Faculty of Education & Humanities Prof. Tamar Shioshvili, and Professor of the American Studies Giorgi Mchedlishvili. The key speaker Tarra Kelly from the U.S. presented the topic: FRIENDS of the Upper East Side Working Together to Save New York City’s Culturally Significant Buildings.
